Overview
Toptracer Range helps golfers improve their game using their smartphone or monitors at any of the 250+ Toptracer-powered ranges worldwide. Players receive live shot data and can play a variety of game modes to practice key skills for the course.
I initially joined Toptracer for a three-month assignment to design a new game mode for kids. Over time, I earned the team's trust and took on a larger role eventually leading a full redesign of the user interface.
My role
UX/UI Designer, March 2020 – March 2023
At Toptracer, I led the redesign of the user facing product, working closely with a few other designers from different teams. The work included mapping existing user flows, identifying pain points and opportunities, creating new architecture and flows, interviewing users and stakeholders, synthesizing insights, wireframing, testing, and of course delivering the final designs.
How I contributed
Advocated for the user within the organization
I consistently brought the user perspective into team discussions and decision-making. Whether through user interviews, testing insights, or journey mapping, I made sure that real user needs stayed front and center even in roadmap or technical prioritizations.
Created a holistic design
I worked across features and touchpoints to ensure a unified and consistent user experience. This included aligning visual design, interaction patterns, and information architecture to support a seamless flow from onboarding to gameplay.
Brought marketing and product closer together
I helped bridge the gap between marketing and product teams by sharing user insights, aligning on messaging and tone, and co-creating visuals and flows. The result was a more cohesive experience for users, both before and after entering the product.
Methods and processes
At Toptracer, my work was grounded in a user-centered design process, with a strong focus on collaboration across teams. I began by mapping existing user flows to understand the current experience, identify pain points, and surface opportunities for improvement. This early-stage work laid the foundation for a more intuitive and cohesive product.
Much of my contribution centered on bridging product goals with real user needs. I facilitated conversations with stakeholders and developers to align on priorities and ensure feasibility from the start.
I conducted user and stakeholder interviews to deepen our understanding of how players engaged with the product. These insights fed into new UX flows, improved navigation structures, and wireframes that I tested regularly to validate decisions before moving into final design.
